Directoire period fireplace in veined white Carrara marble. The crosspiece is sculpted with a draped fabric held by braided embrasures and drooping tassels, continuing on the sides of the fireplace. At the heads, the beginning of a draping fabric cascading in folds onto the jambs. The top of the crosspiece is sculpted with rows of scrolls. The mantel is molded with a talon. A row of heart-shaped lines underlines the opening.
